COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Faculty Athletics Representatives Association (FARA) has announced that Cal State East Bay's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), Dr. Summer Jackson, has been named Division II Newcomer of the Year by the FARA Honors and Awards Committee.

The 2025-26 athletic year is quickly approaching for Cal State East Bay, and with it comes 14 Pioneer teams in action with the first contest taking place on Thursday, September 4.

In 2024-25, the academic year once again was outstanding for many Cal State East Bay student-athletes and teams.

Joey Herrera stood on the 18th green at Valencia Country Club, his final putt dropping into the cup. It was the kind of moment every golfer dreams about: he had qualified for the 2025 U.S. Open. The years of early mornings, long van rides, missed cuts, and hard-won finishes had all led to this. And the best part? His dad was right beside him, looping the bag as his caddie.

NORMAN, Okla. - The GCAA announced its Second, Third and Honorable Mention selections for the 2025 Division II PING All-America Teams on Thursday. From Cal State East Bay men's golf, Easton Hether added to his collection of accolades for the 2024-25 season being named Division II PING All-America Honorable Mention.

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - With the 2024-25 athletic year complete in NCAA Division II, the CCAA announced its final standings for the year for the Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup. Since joining the CCAA, Cal State East Bay had its highest finish in department history, placing fourth among the 12 CCAA member institutions.

NORMAN, Okla. - For the second time in 2025, a postseason coaching honor has been bestowed upon Cal State East Bay head golf coach Alan Sue. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its 2025 coaching honors for men's golf on Tuesday, and Sue was named Golf Pride Grips Division II West Region Coach of the Year.

As the 2024-25 academic year comes to a close, Cal State East Bay saw so many outstanding achievements - it was perhaps the most successful year as a whole for the Pioneers since joining the CCAA. This week's Pioneer Spotlight shines on two phenomenal student-athletes who donned a Pioneer uniform in 2024-25 - Easton Hether from men's golf and Ashlee Toy from softball.
