Cal State East Bay: What you need to know about the 2020 census

Why should members of Cal State East Bay and the Hayward, Concord and Oakland communities take the 2020 census?Because the census brings money back to our campuses and our neighborhoods:Education, Health Care, Housing, Social Services, TransportationFederal Student Loans, Federal Pell Grants, Hayward Promise NeighborhoodsIn 2020 all Cal State East Bay students, staff, and faculty and all East Bay residents need to complete the census so we receive our fair share of funding, which is distributed based on the census count.The questionnaire will only take about 12 minutes to complete. It asks nine questions about your address, race, age and more. However, there is no question about citizenship.Under title 13, your answers are safe and secure no matter who you are or where you are from.All addresses will receive a letter in the mail in mid-March with instructions about how to take the Census. It can be done online, by phone or by paper form. You can complete it at home, libraries, schools or senior centers.Everyone counts at Cal State East Bay. Everyone counts in our community.
