Eugenio Perez-Vera Merino Receives United Soccer Coaches Second Team Regional Honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - This week, United Soccer Coaches announced its NCAA Division II regional award winners for men's soccer. From Cal State East Bay, Eugenio Perez-Vera Merino was named to the United Soccer Coaches Men's NCAA Division II All-West Region Second Team.
In his first season East Bay, the junior defender from Leon, Spain led the Pioneers in minutes (1,681) and started all 19 matches, playing all 90 minutes in 17 of them. In the CCAA opener on October 4 at Cal Poly Humboldt, he found the net for his first goal as a Pioneer in a 2-1 win. A week later, he scored a goal against Cal Poly Humboldt. He played a critical role in the most historic season for East Bay as a CCAA member, as the Pioneers reached the CCAA Tournament for the first time since becoming a counference member.
Already following the 2024 season, Perez-Vera Merino was named All-CCAA Honorable Mention.
