The Bay Area Therapeutic Recreation Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the education, communication, and application of therapeutic recreation. Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery, and well-being. Every year, the Bay Area Therapeutic Recreation puts on a conference to educate other recreation therapists in the field of recreation. Our conference speakers come from a variety of backgrounds such as professors, leaders and those practicing leadership philosophies, yoga therapists, horticulture therapists and many others!
