Jasmin Krishna and Mia Jordan Named Recipients of Dr. Hal Charnofsky Award
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The 2024-25 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award Winners were announced last week by the CCAA. From Cal State East Bay, the two recipients of the award for 2024-25 are Jasmin Krishna from women's golf and Mia Jordan from women's volleyball. The Charnofsky Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and in their sport.
Krishna, a Pioneer golfer for four seasons, was outstanding on the course and in the classroom. Having appeared in three NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships throughout her career, the accounting major has a stellar collection of academic awards as well leading up to the most recent CCAA honor, most notably an Academic All-America® Third Team selection in 2023. Throughout her career on the course, Krishna was twice named All-CCAA Honorable Mention, as recent as this past season, was a three-time Academic All-District® selection and won multiple CCAA Golfer of the Week honors in her four seasons at East Bay
Mia Jordan was a force at the net for four years as a Pioneer. The middle blocker was a three-time All-CCAA Second Team selection and three time Academic All-District® honoree. Her 286 career blocks is the third most in Pioneer history. She also had a .306 attack percentage, one of the highest for an entire Pioneer career in program history. She started all but five matches throughout a span of four years at East Bay. Jordan has a vast collection of academic awards as well as a Pioneer.
There were 24 recipients of the award in 2024-25 from the CCAA. Each was chosen by their athletic department for their efforts as a true student-athlete representing their school and the CCAA to the highest athletic and academic performance standards. Recipients are selected by their respective athletics department members in consultation with the institution's faculty athletics representative.
The award is named after the late Dr. Hal Charnofsky, a long-time faculty athletics representative from Cal State Dominguez Hills, who passed away in December 2002.
