Pioneer Volleyball Wraps Up Hawaii Trip on Saturday
HONOLULU — Cal State East Bay volleyball battled point for point with UC Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon but fell in three sets at McCabe Gym, as the Mountain Lions completed a sweep 25-22, 25-20, 30-28 in East Bay's final match of the 2025 Hawaii Challenge. The Pioneers showed resilience in the third set set, rallying from six points down to push the frame to extra points before UCCS pulled out the win.

First set: With the score tied at 13-13 following a kill by Fane Paua, UCCS pieced together a four-point run to grab control. The Pioneers stayed close but could not erase the deficit, dropping the opener 25-22.

Second set: Malayah Adams delivered a kill on the opening point, but UCCS countered with four straight. The Mountain Lions never surrendered the lead, holding off East Bay for a 25-20 win and a 2-0 advantage.

After a back-and-forth stretch, Barakat Adekola's kill made it 25-24 in favor of the Pioneers. Later, a combined block from Jada Stone and Paua gave East Bay another set point advantage at 28-27. However, UCCS closed with three straight points to take the set 30-28 and secure the match.
