PCSC Weekly Honors Awarded to Kong and Mull

HAYWARD, Calif. - The PCSC announced its weekly award winners for swimming and diving performances during the week of October 8 through November 3. From Cal State East Bay, Tehani Kong was named PCSC Female Swimmer of the Week while Kali Mull was named Female Freshman Swimmer of the Week. Both competed in a pair of dual meets against Simon Fraser last week. 

On Friday, Kong won her only individual event in the 100 butterfly with an NCAA Division II leading time of 54.45. She was also a part of two winning relays. The 400 Medley Relay put up the 5th fastest time in the country, with her split of 53.9 seconds on the butterfly leg. She also led off the winning 200 yard freestyle relay with the fourth fastest 50 freestyle time of 23.28. On Saturday, she won the 200 yard butterfly with a top-10 Division II Time of 2:04.04. She was a part of the winning 200 Medley Relay team as well. For Kong, this week's honor was the third weekly PCSC award in her career that she has received. 

Mull swam a lifetime best in the 50 yard freestyle (24.68), while also clocking a top-10 PCSC time of 53.38 in the 100 freestyle. She was also a member of a 200 freestyle relay team that won as she had a 24.42 split. In Saturday's meet, Mull started off with a top-10 PCSC Time in the 500 yard freestyle of 5:16.07 and had a time of 1:55.28 in the 200 yard freestyle, while also being a member of the top-10 nationally ranked 400 yard freestyle relay team for the Pioneers (52.9 split).

The final meet in the 2024 fall season for Cal State East Bay takes place November 22-24 in the La Verne Winter Invitational in Monterey Park at ELAC Swim Stadium.
