HAYWARD, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay swimming team put together a dominant all-around performance on Saturday, defeating UC Santa Cruz 172–89 in a dual meet at the Pioneer Pool.
Notable Performances:
- The Pioneers opened the meet with a strong showing in the 400-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Taylor Kolsch, Rae Ann Dressel, Tehani Kong, and Alexia Fajardo took first place with a time of 3:49.91.
- Malana Kollath impressed in distance events, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:19.61 while teammates Miya French and Sydney Prentice followed for a 1-2-3 East Bay sweep.
- In the 200-yard butterfly, Fajardo earned another individual win in 2:03.48, just ahead of Reese Veron in second.
- Taylor Kolsch captured two victories on the day, taking first in both the 100-yard backstroke (57.89) and 200-yard backstroke (2:05.83).
- Rae Ann Dressel swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100-yard in 1:06.22 and helping teammate Kylie Beaudet claim the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:21.56.
- Tehani Kong continued her standout form with wins in both sprint and stroke events, touching first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.02) and 100-yard butterfly (55.28).
- In distance freestyle, Maggie Clemens led a strong showing with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.04), followed closely by Viviana Perez and French to secure another 1-2-3 sweep for the Pioneers.
- Beaudet also captured the 400-yard individual medley in 4:27.11, leading an East Bay sweep that included Kollath and Faith Fletcher.
- The Pioneers closed the meet in style with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Kong, Fajardo, Amaya Rocheleau, and Kali Mull finished in 1:36.53 to cap off the team victory.
Cal State East Bay will return to the pool on November 21 for the La Verne Winter Invitational in Monterey.
