HAYWARD, Calif. - Cal State East Bay women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to five matches with a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Chico State on Friday at Pioneer Stadium. The win improves the Pioneers' place in the CCAA standings as they have their sights set on chasing a spot in the CCAA postseason. 

Chico State struck early when Avery Pieri found the back of the net in the 7th minute, assisted by Jordan Brail. The Wildcats maintained their 1-0 lead through halftime, despite East Bay's efforts to equalize.

The Pioneers came out strong in the second half, with Mika Sayfurahman netting the equalizer in the 52nd minute. Gabby Rodil provided the assist on Sayfurahman's seventh goal of the season. East Bay continued to press, and their persistence paid off when Abigail Kern scored the game-winner in the 64th minute, again assisted by Rodil.

• Notable performances included Rodil's two assists and three shots, while Sayfurahman contributed three shots with two on target.
• Kern's goal was her fourth of the season.
• East Bay goalkeeper Ashley Levi was instrumental in the victory, making 11 saves to secure her third win of the season.
• The Pioneers' defense held strong against a relentless Chico State attack that outshot East Bay 19-11.

The victory puts Cal State East Bay in a three-way tie for fourth place in the CCAA standings with Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Bernardino, each with 14 points. The Pioneers are just one point ahead of seventh-place Cal Poly Humboldt (13 points) as they vie for a spot in the CCAA Tournament, which takes the top six teams.
 

East Bay will look to continue its unbeaten run in their regular season home finale against Stanislaus State on Sunday, November 3 in the chase for the postseason. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. at Pioneer Stadium in Hayward, California.
