Pioneers Take 12th at DII National Preview
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The Cal State East Bay women's golf team wrapped up play at the DII National Preview this week, competing against one of the strongest Division II fields in the country. The Pioneers finished 12th overall with a three-round total of 973 (324–323–326) at PGA National in West Palm Beach, Florida
Carlota Eroles led the way for the Pioneers, posting rounds of 79-79-80 to finish at 238, tying for 37th place individually in a competitive 66-player field. Denise Paulsson followed close behind, carding a 77 in the second round and finishing tied for 45th with a total score of 242 (81–77–84).
Right alongside her was Torrie Bowman, who also tied for 45th at 242 after rounds of 80–83–79, saving her best golf for the final round. Rounding out the Pioneers' scoring, Kathy Leeper shot 84–85–83 (252) to tie for 61st, while Chantel Tsai finished in 63rd with rounds of 86–84–84 (254).
Dallas Baptist captured the team title at 904, and Lynn University and UT Tyler, who rounded out the top three. Florida Southern's Clare Gimpel earned individual medalist honors with a 223 (75–77–71).
The Pioneers will return to the links next week when they head to Pueblo, Colorado for the CSU Pueblo Fall Invitational.
