Eroles Shares Co-Individual Title, Pioneers Finish Sixth at Bay Area Invitational

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Cal State East Bay women's golf earned a sixth-place team finish and saw Carlota Eroles capture a share of the individual championship at the East Bay Fall Invitational, hosted this week in Pleasanton.

Eroles put together one of the finest performances of her Pioneer career, tying for first place at 3-under-par (213) after rounds of 73 (+1), 72 (E), and 68 (-4). Her final round included five birdies and just one bogey, propelling her up the leaderboard to finish even with Western Washington's Lauren Lee for medalist honors. Eroles also added a hole-in-one in the second round on the 7th hole for an eagle.

As a team, the Pioneers posted rounds of 312 (+24), 319 (+31), and 314 (+26) for a three-day total of 945 (+81), placing them sixth in a 15-team field. The event featured several of the strongest programs in the West Region, including tournament champion Cal State San Marcos (+32), runner-up Simon Fraser (+42), and Cal State Los Angeles (+49) rounding out the top three.

Behind Eroles, Torrie Bowman turned in a solid performance, finishing tied for 38th at 239 (+23) with rounds of 77, 80, and 82. Bowman's opening-day 77 helped keep the Pioneers within striking distance early in the event. Chantel Tsai posted rounds of 79, 79, and 87 to tie for 46th at 245 (+29). Kathy Leeper closed strong with a final-round 76, jumping up the leaderboard to tie for 53rd at 248 (+32).

This tournament wrapped up the fall season for the Pioneers who will hit the course again in the spring.
