TOURNAMENT RECAP: Women’s Golf at Patriot Invitational
CARMEL, Calif. – At Quail Lodge Golf Course, the Cal State East Bay women's golf team played in the two-day, 54-hole Patriot Invitational throughout Monday and Tuesday. The No. 29 Pioneers finished 10th among 15 teams on the par 71 course.
The field included nine top-50 Division II opponents along with one Division I team.
- Jasmin Krishna had East Bay's lowest overall score among the six golfers on the team entered finishing at 20-over-par 233 (76-78-79) for 32nd on the leaderboard. Throughout the 54 holes, Krishna had a team-high six birdies.
- The lowest single round score among all Pioneer golfers, 75, was from Sophia Tejeda in Monday's second round. She finished 43rd overall at 23-over-par 236.
"We unfortunately had our worst performance of the year this week. We didn't adjust well to the poor conditions and the challenges of the golf course yesterday during the 36-hole day," stated Cal State East Bay head golf coach Alan Sue. "Today we came out with some fight, but were only able to move up one spot. Ultimately this lesson will help us down the road as we prepare for the postseason and the adverse conditions and challenges that we will ultimately face. I still feel that this is a team that can go deep into the postseason."
No. 4 Dallas Baptist was the team champion of the Patriot Invitational. The medalist was Ellen Spigner from Arkansas Tech at 1-under-par 212.
Two tournaments remain for the Pioneers in the 2024-25 regular season, both of which are in Arizona. The first of the final two is the WT Desert Invitational on March 31 and April 1 at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona.
