Bowman Leads Pioneers to Top-10 Finish at Pueblo Invitational
PUEBLO, Colo. — The Cal State East Bay women's golf team battled to a tie for 9th place at the Pueblo Invitational this week with a two-round total of 630 (+54). The Pioneers matched Midwestern State on the leaderboard and finished inside the top half of a competitive 21-team field that featured several of the nation's top programs.
Torrie Bowman led the Pioneers with a strong performance, finishing tied for ninth individually after rounds of 77-75 (152, +8). Bowman's consistency across both rounds helped secure her first top-10 finish of the season.
Denise Paulsson added another top-25 result, finishing tied for 23rd with back-to-back rounds of 78-78 (156, +12). Carlota Eroles turned in rounds of 79-82 (161, +17) to tie for 59th, while Chantel Tsai posted matching 81-81 (162, +18) to tie for 63rd. Junior Kathy Leeper rounded out the scoring lineup with rounds of 83-81 (164, +20), tying for 71st overall. Competing as an individual, Nylani Stevenson finished tied for 105th after shooting 88-92 (180, +36).
As a team, Cal State East Bay carded identical rounds of 315 (+27) on both days. The Pioneers' total of +54 (630) placed them ahead of several regional rivals, and just one shot shy of seventh place.
Dallas Baptist University (DBU) claimed the team title at +16 (592), led by medalist Madison Ude, who finished even par (72-71—143). Cal State Los Angeles (+42) and Colorado State Pueblo (+44) rounded out the top three.
The Pioneers will conclude their fall schedule later this month when they host the Cal State East Bay Fall Tournament at Stonebrae Country Club.
