GAME SUMMARIES

Game One: Chico State 7, Cal State East Bay 1
Chico State broke through with a solo home run from Itzell De Los Rios in the second inning, then capitalized on a big sixth and seventh to secure the win.

Cal State East Bay was held to a single unearned run in the fifth when Cynthia Carrillo hit an RBI single to drive in Morriss.

The Wildcats broke the 1-1 tie on three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Aiyana Curry's two-run homer and RBI doubles from De Los Rios and Ali Lewis highlighted the scoring. Curry struck again in the seventh with her second home run of the game, bringing in two more runs to extend the lead.

The Pioneers loaded the bases in the seventh but were unable to capitalize.

Game Two: Cal State East Bay 1, Chico State 0 (10 innings)

In a game defined by dominant pitching and clutch defense, Marissa Quintero authored a masterpiece. The sophomore threw all 12 innings, allowing just five hits and striking out five to earn her sixth complete game shutout of the season. The Pioneer defense turned four double plays to help navigate out of multiple Chico State threats.

The decisive moment came in the bottom of the 12th. Ysabella Cortez tripled down the right field line with one out, and Morriss followed by lining a walk-off single to right field to bring Cortez home and ignite a Pioneer celebration.
