MEET RECAP: Pioneer Men’s Track & Field at Mike Fanelli Track Classic

HAYWARD, Calif. – On Friday and Saturday, Cal State East Bay men's track & field competed in several events at Chabot College Track in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Below are some of the highlights for the Pioneers throughout the meet.

The distance medley relay team of Aidan Singh, Chas O'Bear, Matthew Morgon and Cole McKain placed fifth in 10 minutes, 28.70 seconds.
In 51.48 seconds, Kamron Smith finished 16^th overall in the 400 meters.
Amier Hollis cleared 1.84 meters to place fourth in the high jump.
Benjamin Chang had a mark of 6.31 meters to place sixth in the long jump.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, April 6 in the Sacramento State Invite, taking place at Hornet Stadium.

Announcing the 2024-25 Cal State East Bay Athletic Awards
On Sunday evening inside Pioneer Gymnasium, Cal State East Bay hosted its Pioneer Athletic Awards Banquet, for the first time named 'The Pios'. Student-athletes from Cal State East Bay were honored for athletic, academic and community impact. TURLOCK, Calif. — Cal State East Bay men's track and field likely wrapped up its 2025 campaign with a sixth-place finish at the CCAA Track & Field Championships presented by Pollo Campero, held Thursday through Saturday at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Stanislaus State. The Pioneers turned in several standout performances, including one individual conference title and personal bests on the field and track. In total, the Pioneers' medal count included a gold and a bronze medal.

When Dr. Summer Jackson stepped into the role of Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) at Cal State East Bay in 2023, it was more than a professional milestone—it was a full-circle moment. A former Division I swimmer at the University of Arkansas and a proud inductee into the Sequim (Washington) Hall of Fame's inaugural class for her swimming accomplishments, Dr. Jackson brought with her not only an impressive academic background but a deeply personal connection to the student-athlete journey.

SAN FRANCISCO — Cal State East Bay men's track and field capped its 2025 regular season with a strong showing at the Johnny Mathis Invitational, finishing second among 13 scoring teams over two days at Cox Stadium. The Pioneers delivered standout performances across both track and field events, highlighted by a sweep in the top-three for high jump and multiple field event victories.
