TOURNAMENT RECAP: Men’s Golf Wins Wildcat Classic
CORNING, Calif. – For the second straight tournament, the Cal State East Bay men's golf team finished atop the team leaderboard, as the Pioneers won the Wildcat Classic. The two-day tournament wrapped up Tuesday at The Links at Rolling Hills with five Pioneer golfers finishing in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.
- Leading the Pioneers, each tied with the squad's lowest overall scores were Ananjan Kaushik and Easton Hether, who both finished with a score of -9 (207).
- Kaushik's lowest round was the third, where he carded a 68, with six birdies in the round and 15 overall.
- Hether had a team-high 16 birdies among the 54 holes played with a lowest round in the second with a score of 67.
- Hether and Kaushik each were on the All-Tournament Team by way of finishing in the top-5 on the leaderboard.
- Other top-10 finishes affecting the team score were from Won Jun Lee at -6 (210) and Peyton Hendricks at -5 (211), placing in ties for sixth and eighth on the leaderboard respectively.
- Hendricks was the only Pioneer to have two eagles in the tournament.
- Entered as an individual golfer, Ryan Calcagno was stellar in his Pioneer debut, finishing in a sixth place tie at -6 (210), highlighted by a second round score of 67.
- East Bay won back-to-back tournaments for the first time since February 2017.
Following the tournament, Cal State East Bay golf coach Chris Oetinger stated:
"Two wins in a row is a special way to start the season! This solid performance put our depth on full display – two top-5s, four top-10s and six [top-20s]. All players, even our individuals, posted an under par round at some point during the tournament."
Oetinger added:
"The group of guys has tremendous upside. We will enjoys this win but we know there is room for growth. We won by 12 today and could have gone lower. This group is excited to get back to work and take our game to Monterey next week."
White Cal State East Bay won the team scoring, Travis Miller from Chico State was the tournament medalist with a final score of -13 (203).
Next Monday and Tuesday, the Pioneers will look to continue their outstanding start to the 2024 fall season when they compete in the Otter Invitational, taking place at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, California.

Competing against a field of 19 teams, the Pioneers demonstrated their prowess on the par-70 course, completing 36 holes over two rounds.
- TOURAMENT RECAP: Men's Golf at Dennis Rose IntercollegiateWAIMEA, Hawaii — Cal State East Bay's men's golf team finished fourth out of 19 teams at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate held Monday and Tuesday at the Mauna Lani North Course. The two-round tournament, played on the par-72, 6,913-yard course, saw the Pioneers compete over 36 holes against a strong field.
