Pioneers Picked Sixth in 2025–26 CCAA Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2025–26 CCAA Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced Thursday by the conference office. The Pioneers earned 91 points in the voting, rounding out the top half of the 12-team conference standings as they look to build on last year's promising campaign.
The Pioneers return three starters from a team that went 11–17 overall and 9–13 in CCAA play last season. Cal State East Bay averaged 70.5 points per game and was among the conference leaders at the free-throw line, ranking third in both attempts (20.6 per game) and made free throws (14.5 per game). The Pioneers also excelled defensively, finishing second in the CCAA in steals per game (9.5), reflecting a team identity built on energy and pressure.
Second Team All-CCAA performer Tyree Campbell returns after a standout junior season. He led the Pioneers in scoring at 13.4 points per game, shooting 47% from the field and adding nearly five rebounds per game. Campbell also shined defensively, averaging nearly two steals a game.
CCAA Honorable Mention selection Ramsey Huff also returns for his senior season after averaging 9.1 points per game last season. Huff led the Pioneers with his shooting from beyond the arc with 42 3-pointers. Huff's .420 3-point shooting percentage was second highest in the CCAA among qualifying players and he added a team high 60 assists.
Defending CCAA champion Cal State Dominguez Hills was selected as the preseason favorite, earning 141 points and 11 of 12 first-place votes. Cal Poly Pomona (119 points) and Cal State San Bernardino (117) followed in second and third, while Chico State (108) and Cal State LA (96, one first-place vote) rounded out the top five ahead of East Bay.
Rounding out the preseason poll were Stanislaus State in seventh (71 points), Cal Poly Humboldt in eighth (53), Cal State San Marcos in ninth (43), and Cal State Monterey Bay in tenth (41). San Francisco State (35) and UC Merced (21) completed the field.
