HAYWARD, Calif. — At Pioneer Baseball Field on Sunday, Cal State East Bay battled to the final out but fell 7-4 to Menlo College in the series finale, as the Oaks capitalized on early chances and added late insurance while the Pioneers mounted multiple rallies.

ATHERTON, Calif. — Playing Saturday on the road at Cartan Field, Cal State East Bay turned in a complete performance on both sides of the ball, defeating Menlo College 17-3 to claim the second game of the three-game series. The Pioneers struck for three runs in the first inning, weathered a brief Menlo push in the middle frames and then broke the game open with a six-run fifth on the way to improving to 3-3 overall.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Cal State East Bay nearly erased a late deficit Friday afternoon at Pioneer Baseball Field, but Menlo College held on for a 9–8 win in the Pioneers' first home game of the season. After the Oaks broke a 1–1 tie in the third inning, they led the rest of the way, even as East Bay brought the tying run to third base in the bottom of the ninth.

This week features a packed week of events on the Cal State East Bay campus with two important basketball doubleheaders and baseball's home opener. Softball will look to build on a strong start starting Friday at a three-day tournament in Lake Elsinore.
