TURLOCK, Calif. - The first day of the 2025 CCAA Track & Field Championships presented by Pollo Campero took place Thursday from Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium. Cal State East Bay men's track & field competed and the day for the Pioneers was highlighted by a gold medal in the long jump for Benjamin Chang

  • Chang secured a first place finish after a personal-best leap of 7.24 meters in the long jump. Chang's gold medal was the first CCAA gold for a Pioneer since 2015 when Marquise Cherry was the CCAA Champion in the long jump that year.
  • In the 1,500 meters, John Funderburg advanced to Saturday's finals after his time of 4:08.63 in Thursday's preliminary heat.
  • Che Jimenez advanced to the finals of the 400 meters with a time of 49.23 seconds. The finals for the 400 meters takes place Saturday afternoon.
  • Five events were completed in the decathlon. Amier Hollis took first in the high jump of the decathlon and Justin Gauthier took third in the 400 meters. Four more events remain in the men's decathlon and are expected to finish on Friday.
