Dressel and Kong Receive Academic All-America® Honors
AUSTIN, Texas - The 2024-25 Academic All-America® selections for women's swimming & diving were announced on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators. From Cal State East Bay, Brooklyn Dressel was named to the NCAA Division II First Team and Tehani Kong was named to the Third Team.
For Dressel, it is the third time in her career in which she has received an Academic All-America® honor. During her sophomore season (2022-23), she was a Third Team honoree and in her junior season (2023-24), she was a Second Team selection. The outstanding student-athlete has appeared at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships all four years as a Pioneer and has been a CSCAA All-American in multiple events.
Kong, in just her sophomore season, has collected many awards as a Pioneer, including Academic All-America® Third Team. She finished third in the nation for the 100 yard butterfly last month in 53.58 seconds. She continues to break her own Pioneer records, most often in the butterfly. Kong also has been a CSCAA All-American in multiple events throughout her career and has reached the podium many times.
