TOURNAMENT RECAP: Men's Golf Places Second to Open Season; Five Pioneers in Top-15 on Leaderboard
MARYSVILLE, Calif. - Cal State East Bay men's golf opened the 2025-26 season on Monday and in the 54-hole Wildcat Classic over the course of two days, the Pioneers placed second in team scoring at par 72, 6,920-yard course at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club. Five Pioneers finished in the top-15 on the leaderboard, including Peyton Hendricks, Nathaniel Frink, Adam Brangefalt (as an individual), Paddy Blinderman and Easton Hether.
- Hendricks, Frink and Brangefalt all placed fourth on the leaderboard at 9-under-par 207.
- Hendricks had the strongest third round finish at -5. He had an eagle in the first round.
- Frink had a -6 in the second round and was tied for the most birdies among the field with 15 overall.
- Brangefalt, as an individual not affecting team scoring, had six birdies on Tuesday alone, with a -4 in the third round, finishing wwith 13 birdies overall.
- In his Pioneer debut, Blinderman tied 11th on the leaderboard at 7-under-par 209 (71-69-69).
- Hether made a strong push into a top-15 spot on the leaderboard after a -5 on Tuesday in the third round after a pair of even par rounds on Monday.
Winning the Wildcat Classic was the host team, Chico State. Co-Medalists were both from Chico State as well, with a final score of 13-under-par 203 - Vineet Vallamsetty and Naoki Easterday.
The Pioneers head south of the border for their next tournament. From Sept. 28-30, East Bay is entered in the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya, which takes in Tulum, Mexico.
