MEET RECAP: Women's Track & Field at Franson Last Chance
AZUSA, Calif. - In one final attempt to improve qualifying times for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, Jenna Rodriguez of Cal State East Bay women's track & field competed in the 800 meters on Friday in the Franson Last Chance hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
Rodriguez ran in the 800 meters on Friday with a time of 2:19.87, which was not an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time.
Earlier in the season in the Bryan Clay Invitational, Rodriguez ran the 800 meters in 2:09.55, which was her best time in the event meeting the provisional floor. However, even with meeting the provisional time, only the top 22 nationally in the 800 meters are invited to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. Rodriguez's best time set earlier this season is currently 32nd in the nation. Therefore, most likely, Rodriguez will probably not qualify for the championship meet.
The Franson Last Chance is a meet available in May, generally during the final regular season week in NCAA Division II, serving as an opportunity for entered student-athletes nationwide to bolster times and marks to qualify for postseason championships.
