MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Cal State East Bay's women's swimming team continued add to its point total for the 2024-25 PCSC Swimming and Diving Championships, securing multiple medals and NCAA 'B' Standard times at East LA College Swim Stadium on Friday.
- The Pioneers' performances were highlighted by a dominant showing in the 200-yard butterfly, where they claimed the top two spots. Tehani Kong captured gold with a time of 2:04.19, while teammate Alexia Fajardo took silver in a nail-bitingly close finish, just 0.02 seconds behind. Both swimmers met NCAA 'B' Standards, bolstering East Bay's medal count and point total.
- Miya French added to the Pioneer's success, clinching silver in the 500-yard freestyle. French touched the final wall at 5:00.50, setting a personal best and achieving an NCAA 'B' Standard time. This marked French's second career PCSC medal in the event, showcasing her consistency and improvement.
- In the relay events, East Bay's quartet of Lily Caraway, Kylie Beaudet, Tehani Kong, and Brooklyn Dressel secured second place in the 200-yard medley relay. The team clocked in at 1:43.99, capping off a strong night for the Pioneers.
As the championships head into their final day, Cal State East Bay remains in contention to defend their PCSC title. The Pioneers will look to add to their point tally on Saturday, with events including the 1,650-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 400-yard freestyle relay.
Saturday's preliminaries are set to begin at 9:30 a.m., with finals commencing at 5:20 p.m. at the ELAC Swim Stadium. The day promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the championships as Cal State East Bay chases its second consecutive PCSC crown.
