MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Cal State East Bay's women's swimming team made a splash on the opening night of the 2024-25 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships, securing one gold and three silver medals at the East LA College Swim Stadium on Wednesday.
- The Pioneers' Brooklyn Dressel led the charge, clinching first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.20 seconds. Her performance not only earned her gold but also met the NCAA 'B' Standard time for the event. Dressel won her second career PCSC Championship gold medal in the 50-yard freestyle.
- In the 200-yard individual medley, Kyle Beaudet touched the wall in 2:03.48, good for second place and another NCAA 'B' Standard time. Beaudet has medaled in the 200-yard individual medley for the third straight season at the PCSC Championships.
- Miya French continued her impressive streak in the 1,000-yard freestyle, claiming silver with a time of 10:22.17. This marks French's second consecutive year as runner-up in the event and her third straight year medaling at the championship meet.
- The Pioneers' relay team also made waves, securing second place in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Kali Mull, Justine Garcia, Kylie Beaudet, and Miya French clocked in at 7:33.71, adding another silver to East Bay's medal count.
The PCSC Championships continue Thursday at the ELAC Swim Stadium. Thursday's events will see the Pioneers competing in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle, and 400-yard medley relay. Cal State East Bay looks to build on their strong start as they dive into day two of the championships, aiming to add to their medal tally and secure more NCAA qualifying times.
