DAY ONE RECAP: Men’s Golf at NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The opening round of the NCAA Division II West/South Central teed off Thursday from Victoria Club. After 18 holes played, Cal State East Bay men's golf sits in third place among 20 teams in the regional tournament.

  • At 7-under par with a 65 in the first round was Cooper Groshart, who had six birdies and an eagle. He is tied for fourth on the leaderboard.
  • Peyton Hendricks is one of four golfers tied for seventh on the leaderboard with six birdies and an eagle, carding a 67 at 5-under-par.
  • Also with six birdies among the Pioneers on Thursday was Easton Hether, who carded a 71 in the opening round.
  • Oscar Blomqvist also finished the round under par at -2 (70).

Colorado Christian leads the team scoring for the tournament followed by Cal State San Bernardino. Tied at 9-under-par atop the leaderboard are Baptiste Touchard of St. Mary's (Texas) and Oskari Nikku of Oklahoma Christian.
 
The second round is scheduled for a first group tee time of 7:30 a.m. on Friday from Victoria Club. In the first group to tee off is Hendricks.
