MEET RECAP: Men's Track & Field Concludes Regular Season at Johnny Mathis Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO — Cal State East Bay men's track and field capped its 2025 regular season with a strong showing at the Johnny Mathis Invitational, finishing second among 13 scoring teams over two days at Cox Stadium. The Pioneers delivered standout performances across both track and field events, highlighted by a sweep in the top-three for high jump and multiple field event victories.

Notable Cal State East Bay Performances

Field

  • Dapri Smith won the high jump with a clearance of 1.92 meters, leading a podium sweep that included Amier Hollis in second at 1.87 meters on his first attempt and Calvin Hensley in third at 1.87 on his second attempt.
  • Al'vonn Johnson claimed first place in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 12.71 meters.
  • Remse Pamintuan took first in the hammer throw at 45.95 meters, with Edgar Martinez finishing second at 41.65 meters.
  • For the second consecutive week, Milo Greenwood won the javelin, recording a mark of 52.23 meters.

Track

  • Che Jimenez placed fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.48 seconds.

The Pioneers will return to competition May 1–3 at the 2025 CCAA Track & Field Championships presented by Pollo Campero. The conference championship meet will be held at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Stanislaus State in Turlock, California.
