GAME SUMMARY |
The Gators pulled away early with a seven-run third inning and never looked back. Despite a late push in the seventh by the Pioneers, San Francisco State's offense proved too much to overcome.
After San Francisco State opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first, the third inning unraveled for Cal State East Bay. A leadoff hit-by-pitch was followed by a double and a string of miscues, including two errors and a wild pitch, allowing the Gators to post seven runs—four earned—for an 8-0 lead.
Cal State East Bay broke through in the top of the seventh. Danelle Daniels singled to left, and Aidan Morton followed with a double down the left field line. Jaylen Hodges continued his standout weekend with an RBI single to left center, and Jacob Froess drove in a second run with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Reliever Dwyer Lewis managed to quiet San Francisco State's bats across the middle innings, but the Gators reignited their offense with three more runs in the seventh to lead 11-2.
The Pioneers were unable to build further momentum as San Francisco State closed the game out over the final two innings.
