Dressel and Fajardo Earn First PCSC Weekly Honors of the Season
HAYWARD, Calif. – On Wednesday, the PCSC awarded its weekly honors for the first week of action in the 2024-25 season. Two Cal State East Bay swimmers collected both women's swimming awards for the week of September 23-29. Brooklyn Dressel was named PCSC Female Swimmer of the Week and Alexia Fajardo was named PCSC Female Freshman of the Week.
In a dual meet on Saturday at Pacific, Dressel was on the final leg of the 200 yard medley relay team that placed third, with her split of 23.55 seconds. Dressel placed third in the 50 yard freestyle (23.95) and third in the 100 yard freestyle (52.15). To finish the day, the senior from Wenatchee, Washington led off the 400 yard freestyle relay, which finished third, recording a leadoff time of 51.28 seconds.
Fajardo competed for the first time with the Pioneers on Saturday, and had the team's only first place finish in the dual meet. Fajardo won the 200 yard butterfly in 2:05.66, and in the 200 yard butterfly, placed fourth in 57.93 seconds.
The Pioneers return to action in the pool on Saturday, October 5 with a dual meet at Nevada starting at 11 a.m. from Lombardi Pool in Reno.
