Cal State East Bay Women's Cross Country Competes at Stump Invitational

DAVIS, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay women's cross country team demonstrated their potential and competitive spirit at the Stump Invitational hosted by UC Davis on Saturday morning. The Pioneers secured a commendable fourth-place finish among six scoring teams, with standout performances from several runners. The 5k run, held at Putah Creek Reserve, saw the Pioneers navigate the challenging course.

  • Leading the charge for Cal State East Bay was junior Madison Gomez, who crossed the finish line in an impressive 18 minutes and 26.4 seconds, securing 21st place out of 67 runners.
  • Hope Brookins made a memorable debut for the Pioneers, clocking in at 18:57.8 and securing 31st place overall.
  • Yamilet Deniz finished 33rd with a time of 19:04.0.

UC Davis clinched the team victory on its home course, with Maddie Kackley from the Aggies taking first place in 16:52.3.

The Pioneers will now set their sights on the upcoming Cougar Challenge, scheduled for Saturday, September 28, in San Marcos, California. The team will face a new test as they tackle the 6k distance at the Mangrum Track & Field and surrounding area, with the race set to begin at 9:15 a.m.
