MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's swimming team continued to make waves on day two of the 2024-25 PCSC Swimming and Diving Championships, securing multiple gold medals and NCAA 'B' Standard times at the East LA College Swim Stadium on Thursday. The Pioneers dominated the pool, particularly in the relay events, bookending the evening session with impressive victories. East Bay won four of the five women's swimming events on Thursday.
- To kick off the second day's finals, the quartet of Brooklyn Dressel, Delaney Carlson, Lily Caraway and Alexia Fajardo clinched gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1 minute, 33.64 seconds.
- Kylie Beaudet delivered a standout performance in the 400-yard individual medley, claiming her second career PCSC championship in the event with a time of 4:23.50. Beaudet's swim met the NCAA 'B' Standard, highlighting her potential for national competition.
- The 100-yard butterfly saw two Pioneers get to the podium, with Alexia Fajardo securing her first PCSC individual medal. Fajardo's winning time of 55.32 seconds also hit the NCAA 'B' Standard. Teammate Tehani Kong followed closely, taking silver in 55.42 seconds. East Bay's dominance in the event was further emphasized as Brooklyn Dressel and Lily Caraway captured fourth and fifth places, respectively.
- Capping off a successful evening, the team of Caraway, Beaudet, Kong and Dressel powered to victory in the 400-yard medley relay, touching the final wall at 3:46.27.
The Pioneers look to build on their momentum as they head into day three of the championships on Friday at ELAC Swim Stadium. The upcoming events include the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard medley relay.
