- Mar 18:00 AMBlack At The BayBlack at the Bay Day plays a pivotal role in fostering a profound sense of belonging and empowerment within our current Black students, recruiting Black students from our local community, and fostering connections to the East Bay campus. The one-day program is exclusively tailored for Black students, families and community partners from local community colleges, k-12 schools, and community organizations to gain firsthand insights of Cal State East Bay (EB), as well as connect with the specialized programs here to support our Black students, such as the Sankofa Scholars Program and the Black Student Success Center. Additionally, students can connect with one another, see themselves within current EB students, alumni, and families can connect with faculty and staff who are dedicated to nurturing their journey and ensuring their success throughout their time at East Bay. This event provides several key benefits: Showcases achievements to families and the community: It serves as an opportunity to spotlight the accomplishments of Black students, creating a sense of pride and motivation for both families and the wider community. Builds college identities & networking with Black professionals: Attendees can establish valuable connections with accomplished Black professionals, fostering a sense of mentorship and guidance for their educational and career paths. Builds a Support System: The event fosters the development of a robust support network, enabling students and their families to navigate challenges and opportunities effectively. Fosters a Sense of Community: By bringing together Black students, faculty, and staff, this experience contributes to the growth of a strong and united Black community at CSU East Bay. Boosts Morale for Black Faculty and Staff: It also serves as an occasion to boost the morale of Black faculty and staff, highlighting their contributions and creating a sense of unity and purpose. Celebrates the Richness of the Black Community at CSU East Bay: This event underscores the richness and diversity of the Black community at CSU East Bay, celebrating its unique contributions and perspectives. This transformative experience offers a unique opportunity to boost Black student enrollment at CSU East Bay and enables follow-up interactions with advisors and outreach and program staff. It creates a welcoming environment for potential Black Pioneers and their families to immerse themselves in the culture available to them, helping them discover a strong sense of belonging within the broader East Bay community.
