Pioneer Volleyball Win Streak Ends on Friday at CSUDH
CARSON, Calif. – Cal State East Bay volleyball traveled to Southern California for a pair of CCAA road matches this week. The first of the two was on Friday at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson. In four sets, the Toros defeated the Pioneers, 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-22), ending their six match winning streak.

In the first set, the Pioneers started the match on a 10-4 run capped by an Alexandria Gloria service ace. The Toros would then go on a 9-3 run, capped by a ball handling error by the Pioneers, to even the set at 13-13. The Toros gained their largest lead of the set at four on two occasions; the second occasion at 23-19 on a Kilyn Hayes kill. The Pioneers climbed their way back into the set and ultimately tied the set at 25-25 on a Fane Paua kill forcing extra points. The Toros won the set by taking the next two points win the first set 27-25 and took a 1-0 lead in the match.
Cal State East Bay led by as much as eight points in the second set, but a late run by CSUDH, highlighted by scoring 11 of the set's final 12 points gave the toros a 25-23 set win and a 2-0 lead in the match
Even at 14-14 in set three, the Pioneers went on an 8-2 run to establish a six point lead of 22-16 after a kill by Kara Green. The next six points were traded between both teams, and the Pioneers had the final of the traded points to take set three, 25-19, forcing a fourth set.
In the fourth set, the Toros started with 13-7 run capped by a service ace. The Pioneers would then go on a 15-9 run, capped by a Lexi Pagani kill, to tie the set at 22-22. The Toros, however, scored the final three points of the set to win the fourth set 25-22 and take the match 3-1.

- Taumafa Tuinauvai had 13 kills for the Pioneers with only one attack error on 21 attempts for a .571 attack percentage.
- Megan Crecelius and Pi'ilani Carvalho each had 21 assists for the Pioneers.
- Crecelius led the Pioneers in digs with 14 and had a double-double.
- With six total blocks was Mia Jordan.
