Kale’a Kuamo’o Earns Her First Career FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week Award
Kale'a Kuamo'o from has been voted this week's FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Kuamo'o averaged a CCAA-best 4.38 digs on the weekend to help Cal State East Bay defend its home court with a pair of victories. She added five assists and two aces.
Kuamo'o had 12 digs, three assists, and an ace in the sweep over UC Merced. She backed it up with season high 23 digs in a five-set win over Stanislaus State, handing the Warriors their first CCAA loss.
The junior from Keaukaha, Hawaii, is now tied for second in the CCAA with 4.28 digs per set and fifth in aces per set (0.4). Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard.
This is the first career CCAA Player of the Week award for Kuamo'o, and it's the first for Cal State East Bay since the 2023 season. Click here to see a complete list of past award winners.
The Pioneers are tied with Cal State San Bernardino and San Francisco State for fourth in the CCAA standings at 4-2. CSUEB will host Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-4 CCAA) on Friday, Oct. 10, before welcoming in Cal Poly Pomona (6-0 CCAA) on Saturday, Oct. 11. Both matches will be available on FloCollege.

With the victory, the Pioneers evened their record at 7-7 overall and improved to 4-2 in CCAA play, while the Warriors dropped to 7-6 and 5-1 in conference.
