This Week in Pioneer Athletics - October 2-8
Several Pioneer teams are in action for the week of October 2-8. CCAA action officially begins Friday for men's and women's soccer on the road, volleyball plays a pair of home matches, including a Saturday afternoon matchup against 2023 NCAA Division II National Champion Cal State LA, swimming competes in a dual meet at Nevada and men's and women's golf play Monday and Tuesday.

CCAA action begins for all soccer teams across the conference on Friday. The Pioneers have been held without a goal in three consecutive matches, and will look to break the scoring drought as conference play starts. Cal State East Bay played to a scoreless draw last Saturday against Cal State San Marcos in a non-conference match in Hayward.
The first pair of CCAA matches for East Bay takes place Sunday afternoon in Rohnert Park against Sonoma State. The Seawolves are 2-1-4 before their conference opener Friday against CSUSM.

THe Pioneers officially begin CCAA action on Friday afternoon at Cal Poly Humboldt. Last Saturday in a non-conference match against Cal State San Marcos trailing by two goaals, Mika Sayfurahman made a penalty kick in the second half, then with less than two minutes remaining, scored the equalizer for a 2-2 draw. Her two goals earned her CCAA Offiensive Player of the Week honors.
After Friday's conference opener, the Pioneers head to Rohnert Park for a matchup at Sonoma State. The Seawolves enter Friday's conference action at 2-2-3 overall before hosting CSUSM on Friday.

The Pioneers have dropped three straight CCAA contests and will look to get back on track Friday evening inside Pioneer Gymnasium against Cal State Dominguez HIlls. Following Friday's match, it will be a quick turnaround for East Bay with a home match on Saturday against No 19 Cal State LA.

The Pioneers lost in a dual meet last week at Pacific to open the 2024-25 season. The only first place finish for East Bay was from Alexia Fajardo, who won the 200 yard butterfly in 2:05.66.

Last Friday, the Pioneers opened the 2024-25 season with a team win in the Saint Martin's Bishop Invitational. They will look to continue their success in the Wildcat Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
