Pioneer Swimming Wins Home Opener on Friday vs. Simon Fraser
HAYWARD, Calif. — The No. 15 Cal State East Bay women's swim team made a splash in their 2024-25 home opener, outpacing No. 8 Simon Fraser in a dual meet at Pioneer Pool on Friday afternoon with a final score of 104-63.
The Pioneers dominated the competition, securing victories in seven out of nine events against the Red Leafs. Cal State East Bay's strong performance was highlighted by their relay teams, which bookended the meet with impressive wins in both the 400-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Notable individual performances for Cal State East Bay included:
• Hannah Sharp's victory in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.20).
• Kylie Beaudet's wins in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.37) and 100-yard individual medley (58.71).
• Tehani Kong's first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (54.45), reaching an NCAA 'B' Standard.
• Brooklyn Dressel's triumph in the 50-yard freestyle (23.90).
The Pioneers demonstrated their depth, often securing multiple top-three finishes in individual events. In the 50-yard freestyle, Cal State East Bay claimed two of the top three spots, with Dressel and Delaney Carlson finishing first and third, respectively.
The Pioneers will look to continue their momentum as they face Simon Fraser again in the second of back-to-back home dual meets. The competition is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Pool in Hayward, California.
