Pioneers Fall 2–0 to Cal Poly Humboldt
LIVERMORE, Calif. — Cal State East Bay women's soccer dropped its first home CCAA match of the season Friday afternoon, falling 2–0 to Cal Poly Humboldt at Las Positas College. The visiting Lumberjacks scored twice in the opening 25 minutes to move the Pioneers to 4-6-1 overall and 2-1 in CCAA play.
Cal Poly Humboldt struck first in the 11th minute when Karsyn Ross scored and then doubled the lead in the 23rd minute with Heidie Munoz's goal. The Pioneers matched Humboldt shot-for-shot in the opening half but couldn't find the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Ashley Levi was a standout in net, recording seven saves on 18 shots faced, including several key stops in the final 20 minutes to keep the Pioneers within striking distance.
Offensively, East Bay generated 11 total shots with five on goal but couldn't convert against Humboldt's goalkeeper tandem of Carson Thomson-Terrel and Ariana Beddoes, who combined for five saves in the shutout. Abigail Kern led East Bay with five shots, including three on goal.
The loss snapped East Bay's two-game winning streak, but the Pioneers will look to rebound Sunday when they head south to take on Cal State San Marcos.
