This Week in Pioneer Athletics – Sept. 11-17
The second week of fall sports starts this week for Cal State East Bay. It's also the first week of the academic year Pioneer events will be played on campus, starting with the 2024 Route 92 Volleyball Classic. Also, men's soccer will look to rebound with its home opener on Saturday, women's soccer has a pair of road matches in Southern California, cross country will compete in Davis on Saturday and next Monday and women's golf tees off for the first time in 2024-25.

The first home event for Cal State East Bay in 2024-25 is Thursday's opener of the Route 92 Classic from Pioneer Gymnasium. After a 2-2 week at the Steel City Showcase, the Pioneers will look to add to their two-match winning streak. Notable performances last week were from two seniors, Alexandria Gloria and Mia Jordan, who were both named to the All Tournament Team in the Steel City Showcase. They will look to have more outstanding performances on their home floor this week.
In addition to the four matches for the Pioneers, there are four other matches throughout Friday and Saturday not including Cal State East Bay.

The Pioneers look to build on last Sunday's 1-0 shutout at Saint Martin's when they play a pair of matches in Southern California this week. They will take on Biola Thursday and Azusa Pacific on Saturday. Last season, East Bay defeated Biola and APU in Hayward. APU is 2-0-0 entering the week, as the Cougars will take on Cal State San Marcos on Thursday before their showdown against East Bay.
