United Soccer Coaches Names Sayfurahman to NCAA Division II West Region First Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches announced its 2023 NCAA Division II All-West Region Teams for women's soccer this week. From Cal State East Bay, sophomore midfielder Mika Sayfurahman was named All-West Region First Team.
In addition to her United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team honor, Sayfurahman received previous 2023 postseason awards, including:
- D2 CCA All-West Region First Team
- CCAA Midfielder of the Year
- All-CCAA First Team
- Academic All-District®
During the regular season, the CCAA honored her twice for Pixellot/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week. She scored a goal in five of the final six matches of the season, including a game-winning penalty kick against Cal Poly Humboldt on October 20. Sayfurahman's eight goals was tied for most in the CCAA for the regular season. She also had three assists, with 30 shots and 18 shots on goal.
The award is the first postseason award since 2012 from United Soccer Coaches (then known as National Soccer Coaches Association of America) for the Pioneers when Zuly Diaz and Kara Yamamoto were named All-West Region Third Team.
