This Week in Pioneer Athletics (Sept. 25-Oct. 1)
With the end of September approaching, fall sports continue in action, while two more teams begin their 2024-25 season during the week of September 25-October 1. Men's Golf tees of for the first time this season on Thursday, volleyball will look to get back on track in a pair of CCAA road matches, cross country runs in San Marcos on Saturday, the first swim meet for the Pioneers takes place Saturday and Senior Day for each soccer team will be hosted at Pioneer Stadium on Saturday. Then on Monday and Tuesday, women's golf tees off in Amarillo, Texas for the WT Fall Regional Preview.

The 2024-25 season tees off Thursday morning in the Pacific Northwest for the Pioneers in the Saint Martin's Bishop Invitational in DuPont, Washington. Notable returners qualifying for the tournament include Easton Hether and Adam Brangefalt, who were on the CCAA Preseason Watchlist, along with Ananjan Kaushik and Aaron Lee.

After a split on the opening week of CCAA action for the Pioneers last week, Cal State East Bay returns to the floor for a pair of road matches, including a showdown at No. 21 CSUSB followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup at SF State. SF State Enters the week 6-3, 1-1 in CCAA action and hosts Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday before taking on Cal State East Bay. The Pioneers won their CCAA opener in four sets against Chico State on Friday, but dropped Saturday's match in four to Stanislaus State.

The journey begins Saturday for the defending 2023-24 PCSC Champion Pioneer Women's Swimming team who will compete in a dual meet at Pacific. Several swimmers for the Pioneers who reached the 2024 NCAA Championships return to the lineup for 2024-25.

Winners of two straight matches heading into the week, the Pioneers will look to continue their success on Saturday when hosting Senior Day in a non-conference showdown against Cal State San Marcos. Morgan Pearson was recently selected as CCAA Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals in the last two matches and adding an assist.
Prior to the match, Madison Dong, Jazlyn Castillo, Abigail Kern, Lexie Randolph, Gabriella Rodil, Jenna Villanueva, Mika Sayfurahman, Evelyn Gomez, Kylie Newman, Annette Medina and Ashley Levi will be honored during the Senior Ceremony.

The Pioneers will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening with a non-conference match against No. 23 Cal State San Marcos. East Bay was held scoreless last week and will look to break the goal drought.
Prior to the match, Adrian Sandoval, Aaron Farnan, Andres Garcia-Diaz, Drew Gibbons, George Binda, Leon Eisert, Marco Antonio Campos, Oscar Avendano, Zavier Hajdukovich and Luis Sanchez will be honored during the Senior Ceremony.

In their second fall tournament, the Pioneers will get a look at a course in which they can return to in the spring if they qualify for the NCAA Division II West Regional. West Texas A&M hosts the WT West Regional Preview in Amarillo next Monday and Tuesday. In her first tournament of the season earlier this month, Jasmin Krishna had the lowest score among all CCAA golfers in the RJGA Shootout at Estrella and ended up being named CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week.

- Pioneers Fall 2–0 to Cal Poly HumboldtLIVERMORE, Calif. — Cal State East Bay women's soccer dropped its first home CCAA match of the season Friday afternoon, falling 2–0 to Cal Poly Humboldt at Las Positas College. The visiting Lumberjacks scored twice in the opening 25 minutes to move the Pioneers to 4-6-1 overall and 2-1 in CCAA play.

- Pioneers Blank UC Merced for Second Straight CCAA WinMERCED, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's soccer continued its strong start to conference play Sunday afternoon, earning a 1-0 road victory over UC Merced on a late goal by Kella Folkerts. The Pioneers improved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-0-0 in CCAA action, while the Bobcats dropped to 4-2-3 and 1-1-0.

The Pioneers used second-half goals from Morgan Pearson and Kella Folkerts, to improv to 3-4-1 overall and 1-0-0 in CCAA action.
