Mika Sayfurahman Named CCAA Midfielder of the Year

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – On Tuesday, the CCAA announced its postseason honors for the 2023 women's soccer season. A very distinguished honor went to a member of Cal State East Bay women's soccer. Named Midfielder of the Year by the CCAA was sophomore Mika Sayfurahman.

As the leading scorer on a team that increased its win total by five from the previous season, Sayfurahman scored eight goals and had three assists. She scored a goal in five of the final six matches of the season, including a game-winning penalty kick against Cal Poly Humboldt on October 20.

With 1,175 minutes of action on the pitch, she registered a team-high 30 shots with 18 on net.

With her eight goals in 2023, she now has 10 for her career at Cal State East Bay in just two seasons.

For two consecutive weeks in October, Sayfurahman was named Pixellot/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week.

The 2023 season is only the second year the conference has awarded a Midfielder of the Year. It's the first major postseason standalone award from the CCAA for CSUEB since 2019 when Riley Spitzer was named Newcomer of the Year.
