The individual title went to Murr, who won a one-hole playoff. Both players had finished the regulation 36 holes at an impressive 5-under-par 139. Cal State East Bay head golf coach Alan Sue following Tuesday's final round:
"What an exciting finish to the Pioneer Shootout sending our [home tournament] winning streak to three! Not only did we have one of the best scoring tournaments of the year, we turned in our strongest mental performance of the year. In both rounds, we watched every player face adversity and display emotional control that some of the best golfers in the world display on a weekly basis. It was amazing to see our growth. I'm so proud of this group!" Pioneer assistant golf coach Arrianna Custodio added the following:
"I am beyond proud of this group. The ladies fought hard and remained focused, even when faced with the challenges on the course. Their resilience and determination were truly impressive. I'm eager to keep this momentum going and can't wait to see what they accomplish next.:
What they can accomplish next could happen at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational on March 10-11 when the Pioneers next take to the course to compete. The tournament tees off from Vista, California at Shadowridge Golf Club.
