Pioneer Women's Basketball Falls to Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday

HAYWARD, Calif. - Cal State East Bay women's basketball was outscored 46-18 in the first half, and despite a stronger second half on Thursday, the Pioneers lost a CCAA game to Cal Poly Pomona, 77-56

GAME SUMMARY

Cal Poly Pomona led 22-7 after the opening quarter, and continued to dominate in the second quarter with a 24-11 score to take a 46-18 lead into halftime. 

Despite the Pioneers outscoring the Broncos by seven points in the second half, the Pioneers never were within reaching distance in the half, as Cal Poly Pomona cruised to a 77-56 win on Thursday.

NOTABLE STATS
  • With 10 points each were Brooke Donnelly and Payton Sterk. Donnelly went 4-for-4 from the floor with two baskets from beyond the arc. 
  • Taylor Linzie was CSUEB's leading rebounder with 13 on Thursday.
  • Defensively, Josias Mickens had four steals.  
  • Kalaya Buggs had a game high 24 points for the Broncos.
  • The Pioneers shot 30.6 percent in field goals while the Broncos shot 47.5 from the floor. 
  • The battle for rebounds was even at 43 each.
