GAME SUMMARY

The Lumberjacks built a lead of as much as 15 points in the first quarter and ultimately led 22-11 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the two teams would tighten up defensively as there were only eleven points scored between the two teams. The Pioneers would come as close as eight on two occasions; the second occasion at 26-18 on a Payton Sterk jumper with 49 seconds left in the half, which became the score at the break.

Like the opening quarter, an identical 22-11 advantage in the third quarter went to Humboldt, as the Lumberjacks led 48-29 heading into the final quarter.

Although CSUEB outscored the Lumberjacks in the fourth quarter, it was not enough to threaten a comeback, as Cal Poly Humboldt won 67-55.

POSTGAME QUOTE

Cal State East Bay head coach Jenny Thigpin following Saturday's loss to Cal Poly Humboldt:
"We didn't get off to a good start and it is always tough to get back into a game when you're always climbing uphill, especially on the road. We need to get back to work next week and prepare to have a better showing as we have two more tough ones on the road coming up."
