Pioneer Women's Basketball Wraps Up Road Schedule With Loss to CSULA
LOS ANGELES - Cal State East Bay women's basketball played its final road game of the 2023-24 regular season on Saturday at Cal State Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles defeated the Pioneers 89-63.
GAME SUMMARY |
The Golden Eagles started the game on an 18-4 run capped and led by as much as 18 points, 31-13, on a Nevaeh Asiasi layup with 1:19 left in the quarter. At the end of the quarter, CSULA led 31-15.
The lead for CSULA expanded in the second quarter, as the Golden Eagles led 54-28 by halftime.
Cal State LA led by double digits the entire second half, with the closest the Pioneers were in reach of was 17 points in the fourth quarter on a layup by Payton Sterk at the 7:06 mark of the fourth quarter. But the Golden Eagles finished with an 89-63 win.

- Sterk's 35 points was her second most this season, going 14-for-21 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the free throw line. She made five baskets from beyond the arc.
- Taylor Linzie led the Pioneers in rebounds with eight.
- Defensively, Jaela Richardson had three blocks and a steal.
- Nicole Flennaugh scored a team-high 20 points for Cal State LA.
- The Pioneers shot 38.5 percent from the field while the Golden Eagles shot 45.6 percent in field goals.
