OVERVIEW AND NOTES |
In the most recent NCAA Division II West Regional Rankings, Cal State East Bay softball is ranked No. 6 as the Pioneers will look to reach the CCAA Tournament for ther second time in three years.
The Pioneers host the final regular season series against Stanislaus State at Pioneer Softball Field Friday and Saturday with a chance to clinch a spot in the CCAA Tournament.
The Pioneers went 2-2 last week against Cal State San Marcos dropping both games on Friday but bouncing back on Saturday to climb into sixth place in the CCAA standings.
The opportunity for the Pioneers to clinch a spot in the CCAA Tournament is available with various scenarios in play. The simplest path for the Pioneers if to win all four games against the Warriors to close out the regular season. However, even if CSUEB does not sweep the series, outcomes from other series throughout the CCAA could affect the possibility to clinch, most notably the results of the Cal State San Baernardino-Cal Poly Humboldt series. Following all of the softball action in the CCAA on Friday, what the Pioneers will need on Saturday will become clearer.
On Saturday, Senior Day will take place five Pioneers will play in their final home game, including Savannah Barchus, Kylie Coelho, Serena Cadena, Kyana Elder and Adriana Martinez.
