Five Pioneers Receive All-CCAA Softball Postseason Honors
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The CCAA announced on Tuesday evening the recipients of the 2024 awards for softball. From Cal State East Bay, five Pioneers were honored for All-CCAA recognition including Marissa Quintero, Annelise Garcia, Cynthia Carrillo, Adriana Martinez and Ashlee Toy.
Marissa Quintero - Fr. - P - Whittier/Whittier HSCCAA Freshman of the Year, All-CCAA First Team
Quintero had an outstanding freshman season in the circle with a 15-9 record and a 1.72 ERA, which was the second lowest in the conference during the regular season. She accumulated 99 strikeouts. She earned one CCAA Pitcher of the Week Honor following an outstanding performance against Sonoma State on March 26. She pitched a five-inning no-hitter on MArch 15 vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills.
All-CCAA First Team
Garcia had an outstanding season with the bat. Her .390 batting average was fifth highest in the conference and she led the Pioneers in home runs with 10 and stolen bases with 12. She was named CCAA Player of the Week for the week of March 11-17. Garcia also was named to the All-CCAA First Team in 2023.
All-CCAA Second Team
Carrillo started 41 games in 2024 and hit .298 with five home runs and 20 RBIs. She had two games against Cal State San Marcos in which she had three hits.
All-CCAA Honorable Mention
Martinez hit five home runs and had 23 RBIs. She was a leader behind the plate commanding the Pioneer defense throughout the season.
Ashlee Toy - Jr. - P/OF - Lodi/Cosumnes River College
All-CCAA Honorable Mention
In the first week of the season, Toy pitched a complete game shutout in the Concordia Kickoff Classic to be named 2024's first CCAA Pitcher of the Week. On March 24, she pitched a no-hitter against Saint Martin's in the Tournament of Champions and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Toy went 10-9 in the circle with a 2.70 ERA with 43 strikeouts. Toy also had a great season at the plate hitting .288 with a home run and 16 RBIs. Defensively, she also played in the outfield.
The Pioneers will compete in the 2024 CCAA Tournament which starts Wednesday from the campus of Cal State San Marcos. They will take on Cal State San Bernardino in an elimination game starting at 2:30 p.m.

- Pioneer Softball Drops NCAA Regional Game to CSUSM on ThursdayBELLINGHAM, Wash. – The first day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championships started at various sites across the nation on Thursday. On the campus of Western Washington University, Cal State East Bay softball played in its first NCAA postseason game as a CCAA member. In five innings by run-rule, the Pioneers lost to Cal State San Marcos, 9-1 at Viking Field. With the loss, CSUEB will play in an elimination game on Friday.
- Pioneer Softball Receives NCAA Regional BerthINDIANAPOLIS - On Monday morning, the NCAA announced the 64-team field among the eight regional brackets for the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. For the first time as a member of the CCAA, Cal State East Bay Softball was awarded an at-large bid to play in the NCAA Division II West Regional. The Regionals begin this coming Thursday as the Pioneers take on CCAA Tournament Champion Cal State San Marcos in Bellingham, Washington. The Regionals wrap up on Saturday, May 11.
