Historic Pioneer Softball Season Ends on Friday at NCAA West Regional
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Cal State East Bay softball entered the second day of the NCAA Division II West Regional on Friday to play in an elimination game. The Cougars defeated the Pioneers 5-0 to end the 2024 season for CSUEB.
The Cougars scored a run in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly RBI by Aly Montesino.
The lead for APU doubled to 2-0 in the top of the third on a solo home run by Mia Alvarez, then tripled in the top of the sixth on a solo shot by Montesino.
Jaelah Burrell delivered a single to drive in two more runs for the Cougars in the top of the sixth for a 5-0 lead.
Although the Pioneers had runners in scoring position twice in the game, no runs were manufactured.
