Pioneer Softball Wraps Up Tournament of Champions With No-Hitter; Toy Named to All-Tournament Team
TURLOCK, Calif. – On Sunday, Cal State East Bay softball played its final game of the 21st Annual Tournament of Champions, Presented by the City of Turlock. The Pioneers dominated Saint Martin's both offensively and defensively toward a 12-0 run-rule victory in five innings.
Ashlee Toy pitched a five-inning no-hitter, as she was named to the All-Tournament Team.

GAME SUMMARY |
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Adriana Martinez hit an RBI single to drive in Annelise Garcia.
After Toy led off the top of the second with a single, she reached second base on a wild pitch, and third on a groundout. Then, Jeslyn Cuellar hit an RBI double for a 2-0 lead.
The third and fourth innings were scoreless, then the Pioneers' bats went to work in the top of the fifth, producing 10 runs. In the inning, Sarissa Block and Cynthia Carrillo hit RBI doubles. Gabriela Rivera, Toy, Alexa Zumstein and Garcia hit RBI singles, with Toy getting two RBIs. Cuellar tripled in a pair of runs and the final run of the inning was from a sacrifice fly RBI by Amelia Morales.
After four no-hit innings by Toy, she retired the side in the bottom of the fifth, and effectively by run rule, pitched a five-inning no-hitter.

- Toy allowed no hits in 5.0 innings in the circle with one strikeout. Throughout the tournament, she pitched 9.0 scoreless innings with two wins.
- Offensively, Toy went 5-for-9 throughout the tournament with three RBIs and two runs scored. Her offensive production and pitching earned her a place on the All-Tournament Team.
- Cuellar went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, a double and a triple.
- Garcia and Toy each had two hits on Sunday.
- The no-hitter was the second for Cal State East Bay in 2024. On March 15, Marissa Quintero pitched a five-inning no-hitter against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Pioneers are scheduled to play a CCAA doubleheader this coming Wednesday at Sonoma State. Game one is scheduled for noon from Seawolf Softball Field in Rohnert Park. Wednesday's games are a make-up doubleheader that was originally scheduled in February.
