DAY ONE RECAP: Pioneer Men’s Track & Field at CCAA Championships

TURLOCK, Calif. – The 2024 CCAA Track & Field Championships started Thursday from Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium. Cal State East Bay men's track participated in several events. Below are highlights for the Pioneers.

  • Edgar Martinez set his longest mark this season in the hammer throw at 39.20 meters.
  • Shattering his own personal record in the 10,000 meters was Cole McKain, with a time of 31 minutes, 14.92 seconds to place fifth overall in the event.
  • In the decathlon, Justin Gauthier sits in sixth place through Thursday's events. Among Thursday's decathlon events, Gauthier cleared 1.76 meters in the high jump, which was tied for second among decathlon entries. He finished third in the 400 meters in 52.56 seconds.

The CCAA Championships continue Friday for men's track & field. Friday's schedule includes four remaining events for the decathlon, two field events, four prelim track events and the finals for the 3,000-meter steeplechase. CSUEB does not have entries in all Friday events though.
