MEET RECAP: Cal State East Bay Men’s Track & Field at West Coast Relays
CLOVIS, Calif. – Cal State East Bay men's track and field competed Friday and Saturday in the West Coast Relays, which were hosted by Fresno State. Below are some of the notable performances by the Pioneers in the meet.
- In CSUEB's only running event during the meet, Kamron Smith placed seventh overall in the 400 meters with a collegiate best time of 50.84 seconds.
- Jaalam Jones placed sixth in the long jump, with a mark of 6.57 meters.
- Edgar Martinez made two personal best marks as a Pioneer in separate throws. He reached 39.07 meters in the hammer throw and in the discus, hit a mark of 33.77 meters.
On March 29 and 30, select student-athletes from Cal State East Bay will compete in the Stanford Invitational or the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Entries will be determined as each meet approaches. The Stanford Invitational takes place at Cobb Track and Angell Field on the campus of Stanford University, while the Mike Fanelli Track Classic will take place this season at Chabot College Track.

- Announcing the 2024-25 Cal State East Bay Athletic AwardsOn Sunday evening inside Pioneer Gymnasium, Cal State East Bay hosted its Pioneer Athletic Awards Banquet, for the first time named 'The Pios'. Student-athletes from Cal State East Bay were honored for athletic, academic and community impact. Men's soccer goalkeeper and 2024-25 SAAC President Kelekolio Mateo Jr. was the emcee for the special event.

The Pioneers turned in several standout performances, including one individual conference title and personal bests on the field and track. In total, the Pioneers' medal count included a gold and a bronze medal.
